With this exhibition, I would like to see an equal share of importance between different building groups, such as the designers or performers. I want the work of all groups to really shine through the final product. If every constructing group does a good job in their field, then together we can show truly how hard we have all worked on this project. I don’t want just one aspect of the presentation to look good; I want it all to function together and I think we can really achieve this if we all do our respective jobs while keeping communication smooth.
There’s not really anything too specific I’d like to come out of a parent or community member’s mouth. I would rather have them simply impressed by our work and for them to convey that to us. Whether it be body language or words, I just want them to let us know if we did a good job and if they learned anything. If a sociology professor were to look over this as well, however, I would like them to deem our work as an accurate representation of socialization and how it affects all us. If we want to display accurate information for our audience, then we’re going to need to use both our current knowledge and other sources. We may want to bring in one who is professional and well informed about socialization, and have them look over our work and perhaps even our final product. They can then tell what we did wrong and right, and how we can improve our work to both make it beautiful and correct.

In these past few weeks, ever since we had completed both our essays and our masks, we have been planning a design for how we are going to exhibit both what we have done and what we have learned. We (the entire Freshman class) broke up into small groups based on what we wanted the exhibition to look like and function. We then took each group’s prototype (a plan and summary on a large piece of butcher paper) and, as a grade voted on what two ideas appealed to us the most.
The problems we are trying to address in this exhibition is our community's lack of knowledge of their own socialization. We are trying to convey to others the damages and effects of socialization. The point of this exhibition is to further deepen their understanding on something they may have noticed but never really went too deep into thinking about. To show them how harmful it is to live in a society where one’s humanity can be so easily molded and formed by the hands of someone else. What I am most excited about in this exhibition is watching. I may not be directly involved in the grand scheme of things or the visuals of the exhibition, but I’m sure there will be one point where I watch my community members slither their way through the maze. I want to see their expressions as they come to realization that the idea of socialization is a very real, very serious thing. I would really enjoy working in the skits that may or may not actually be in the exhibition. Little acting things and less contact with the actual audience appeals to me, and staying in one room and performing something planned and rehearsed is just what I like to do and really think I can contribute, given that we include something like it in our exhibition. As a reflection, I suppose the only thing I can truly feel confident about is this final product. My prototyping group was not filled with the hardest workers, but we did find a symphony of some sorts together. I didn’t vote for my group’s product, not because of its ideas or display, but because I truly liked some of the other prototypes. I think that the maze idea is something that we can pull off and enjoy. |
