Lyrical Painting
For this project, I used acrylic paint and water to create wash after wash of a painting. We all chose a song that had some meaning to us and interpreted the music and lyrics to compose this piece. I chose the song Darkest Dim by Tokimonsta. Here is a poem I composed
People mistake darkness as evil,
Destructive, chaotic, mysterious
Yet we clothe ourselves in it,
Close our eyes, shut down;
So vulnerable, in darkness
A fear of darkness,
Fueled by lies,
We forget that to be alone is to be whole,
To be alone is to forgive yourself
To forgive those who left you,
Not to dwell on the past but
To wash yourself in the night
Like a storm at sea,
To trust the darkness to keep you safe,
As your dreams bring you away from reality.
People mistake darkness as evil,
Destructive, chaotic, mysterious
Yet we clothe ourselves in it,
Close our eyes, shut down;
So vulnerable, in darkness
A fear of darkness,
Fueled by lies,
We forget that to be alone is to be whole,
To be alone is to forgive yourself
To forgive those who left you,
Not to dwell on the past but
To wash yourself in the night
Like a storm at sea,
To trust the darkness to keep you safe,
As your dreams bring you away from reality.
India Ink Painting Project
In this project, we were basing our painting off of a realistic black and white image that either we found our took. We were supposed to trace out that image in pencil and then go in and paint it via an India ink wash and try to recreate that image with the ink. I took two pictures of my plants to sketch and remade it on a canvas. This is my final result.
